You must provide valid government identification at any meeting.

A Texas Notary is required by law to charge a fee for a notarial act. Notary fees are taxable income.

Fees for signatures are controlled by the State of Texas. The maximum fee is $6.00.

$7.00 – maximum allowable notary fee for a single acknowledgment with two signatures

If there is substantial additional time spent for witnessing, ID verification and other tasks which are not direct notary transactions will incur hourly charges at a rate of $40.00 per hour billed in .25 hour increments.

Travel Fees: Travel fees are not mentioned in Texas Statute. Such fees are proper only if the Notary and signer(s) agree beforehand on the amount. The signer must understand that a travel fee is not required nor specific law and is a private charge separate from and in addition to the notarial fees.
